Ways and Means

The Ways and Means Committee is concerned with internal reform.  Recent projects of the committee include drafting senator accountability amendments and screening Executive appointees.  The Vice-Speaker of the Senate is the ex-oficio chair of the committee

Finance and Appropriations

The Finance and Appropriations Committee is main financial body of the student senate.  All appropriations bills must originate from this committee before appearing before the entire Senate.  The Committee is also instrumental in drawing up the Student Activities Fee budget for the various Funding Boards.  There may only be seven members in this committee including the Chair.  All members are appointed to the committee by the Senate at large.

Academic Affairs

This committee is responsible for initiatives and legislation pertinent to academic curricula, advising, the Provost’s office, Registrar’s office and student-faculty relations.

Housing, Facilities, and Technology

Initiatives and legislation pertaining to the portfolios of University Housing Services, University Auxiliary Services, and University Information Systems originate in this committee.

 

Outreach and Fundraising

Constituent services and outreach are the main concerns of the Outreach and Fundraising committee.  Each year, the committee undertakes the organization of various town hall meetings across campus to hear the concerns of the students and update the student body on progress made.

 

Student Life

All other student issues not under the purview of the other committees belong to the Student Life Committee.  Issues explored by previous committees include the Student Code of Conduct and the University Alcohol Policy.

 

Calendar

The Calendar for the 2009-2010 Student Association senate will be determined in the fall by the newly elected senate.  Previously meetings were held Wednesdays at 9 pm in Healy Hall.
